What the Books Don’t Teach
Schools use dissections in class so that the students can learn about the body of animals hands on. Text books can tell you about the inside of the animals, but only dissecting them do you actually learn about what is inside. It is proven that most people learn better with hands on activities, so dissecting an animal gets the students to pay more attention, and it’s just plain fun. i know from experience that I myself am a hands on learner, so dissection helps me to understand what the books can’t teach me.
Something I’ll Never Forget
On September 4, 2010 from 8:30-4:30 I was in a mock scenario to train the White Oak Fire Department. What we did was we did a tornado ambulance wreck and an explotion Iwas in the explosion. We started by making fake skin by using petroleum jelly flour and coco powder and then we decided what we were going to be in. Then it was time for makeup and mine was easy it was red face paint crayons lemon jello and tissue paper to represent the falling off skin. we also had burnt clothing to make it look real. Then it was time to act it out. We had to do it three times for three differnt groups of people. they asked us questions like “How are you feeling?”, “Were does it hurt?”, and “What happened?”. Then they ranked us Priority 1,2,3 or dead. Then after that was over we got to go home and that is something I’ll never forget.
Misunderstanding!!!!!
My life lesson that we all can learn, is not to get mad at a simple thing. We all are guilty of this, including me. This is my story. Hayley, Lauren, Brittney, and I are all best friends or as you would say BFF’s. I have other friends too, but that’s a differenent story. One day during P.E. we were all on one team and Hayley and Lauren were talking about going home with each other well me and Brittney were standing right by them and got a little well scratch that we got a lot mad. Brittney said to me “I live right down the road and they never invite me anywhere.” “Ya I no what you mean Lauren goes home with me every day and do I get invited? No!” We got angrier than we should have we probably could have handled it better. We went over to Lauren and Hayley and told them how we felt and they got mad too. That day at lunch Brittney and I sat together and Hayley and Lauren sat together. After two days of silence I need my friends back. So I talked to Brittney and told her that we needed to work this out with the other two. She solemnly agreed. We told Hayley and Lauren that we needed to talk and to sit by us at lunch. When we all sat down to lunch and started eating I was the first to talk. I said “This has gone on long enough and we need to understand each other without getting mad.” They all agreed. So we talked it out and in the end it was just a big misunderstanding. Now we are all best friends and every one has put it behind us and anytime someone gets angry we talk it out. That is my life lesson.
I Can’t See the Light!!!!!!!!!!
I would never want to lose my since of sight. Being able to see is a wonderful thing. If I go riding my bike I have no worry’s that I am going to run into something. If I go walking I have no fear that I will fall into hole or hurt myself.
If I woke up today not being able to see, here is how my day would be if I were blind: I wake up and fall out of bed because I can’t see the floor. I go to get dressed and I trip over the music stand in the middle of the floor I trip over the hanger too. I make it to my closet. I want to were a blue shirt today. Okay this should be easy but it’s not because if you are blind not only you cannot see things but you can’t see color either. Okay so my mom comes in and pick’s out my clothes. I eat breakfast and go to school. I open the car door and run into the school door. First block I have to write an essay. Oh boy this is going to be difficult. Second block we have to work with chemicals. If I mix the wrong ones together I could blow up the school. P.E. I trip math I can’t learn the lesson and band I can’t see the notes and G.T. I might as well give up now. After school gets even harder I go to bed that night thinking man I want my sight back.
